The collection includes letters from Private William Attwater who was with his friend Carter when he died and describes in detail how this happened ; follow-up letters to Mrs Carter in late 1915, and another in June 1916. Letters to Mrs Carter from John and Alex Walsh who had worked with Carter; plus a letter from the Citizens Patriotic Committee of Traralgon, where Private Carter's mother lived.
